In fact, successful students are those who are able to master the art of comfortable studying. In this case, they will be able to get much better grades, while being comfortable doing it. Studying shouldn’t be an oppressive activity, in fact, we shouldn’t take the whole activity too seriously, to the point that we get distressed.
Here are things we should do to ensure comfortable studying session:
The place plays a significant part in the final outcome of our studying session. We should exercise control over our study environment and adds specific elements that can elevate the sense of comfort, without being distracting. As an example, we should move from tiny rooms with stale air to a bigger one with open windows and circulating air. Our brain needs a regular flow of oxygen and by inhaling fresh air, we will notice that we can have much better comprehension.
Maintain a proper room temperature
Room temperature is often said as ideal for indoors activities, but during a studying session, we may need to lower it by a couple of degree Celsius. People who study intensely often feel slightly hotter than usual. During the winter, the room temperature should also be set at the same level, because we won’t be able to absorb much information by being shivering. During summer we can crack open a window and use fan to draw fresh air from the outside.
Achieve peace and serenity
Both are important to allow us concentrate better and it is often said that silence is golden. A little background music can be used to mask distant background noise, such as road traffic and noisy neighbours. Although some people say that they can learn better with loud music, they often can’t maintain their concentration for long, because it is a strong distraction.
Let the sunlight in
Instead of using the indoors lamps, we could let the natural sunlight in. However, we may need to control the amount of sunlight, especially if it can significantly increase the indoors temperature until it becomes too warm. After dark, we could use incandescent light, which is often believed better than fluorescent light.
Adjust the internal layout
The room should be furnished properly based upon our own taste. In this case, we will be able to avoid distractions. It is also a good idea to surround ourselves with objects that are familiar to us. In this case, we may need to avoid using uncomfortable furniture, such as straight back chair and wooden bench. We should be comfortable, because we are not in a nunnery or monastery. We should also decide on the proper type of table that can provide us with plenty of comfort.
